It was a celebration with a difference.  Diya’s Trainees have been at home since March but the new normal meant past celebrations had to continue, albeit differently. Our Staff worked hard to ensure that the spirit of the Independence Day was kept alive through patriotic songs and competitions, and all of it happened online on the 14 of August 2020.

Trainees chose to take part in a range of competitions which included Fancy Dress, Singing, Making a healthy Salad bowl and an Elocution Competition, all of which were theme based.

Our Trainees confidently hosted the program. A Prayer by Mona and a rendition of Vande Mataram by Chaitanya set the day in motion. We had our Trainees portraying Bharath Matha, Chacha Nehru, Bhagat Singh, Kittur Rani Chennamma, Indira Gandhi and more for the Fancy dress competition. The salad bowl competition had the most number of participants. From a Hawaiian salad to a corn salad to a sprout salad and a mixed fruit salad, everybody had their tables all laid out beautifully. It was a joy to watch them use their skills to cut and chop, add in spices and sauces, and then plate the salad in a myriad beautiful ways. The singing competition had a variety of songs in different languages while the Elocution Competition celebrated India in its truest sense.

The highlight of this online celebration was the enthusiastic involvement and participation of parents and siblings. It was indeed a day well spent and thoroughly enjoyed by Trainees, their families and the Staff team. The events concluded with a vote of thanks by Sneha. E-certificates were awarded to both winners and participants.
